What is Xanthelasma it?
Xanthomas are build-up of fat cells under the skin, seen as flat yellowish pads or growths at the inner corners above and under the eyes, they very much vary in shape, size, and size and colour and tend to start off as a small lump
Xanthelasma is not a painful blemish, although it can become uncomfortable in the eye area as it can become a shadow, even that you can see out of the corner or your eye as such.
This blemish can really affect the confidence of many clients I see, with some cases being much worse than others, and the quicker you can treat, the better and quicker we can get results.
What causes Xanthelasma?
They are associated with a symptom of metabolic disorders such as diabetes or may indicate high cholesterol. although many clients who have Xanthelasma have normal cholesterol readings.
How can Xanthelasma be removed?
They are successfully removed with Thermolysis. We use cautery to gently scrape them away. The current shrinks the blemish, small crusts and swellings will appear which will take up to 2 weeks to heal. They reduce in size and appearance although the milky yellowy colour remains. Several treatments 3-6 may be needed depending on the depth and size of the lesions.
