Microsclerotherapy
Microsclerotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for improving the appearance of superficial thread veins on the legs. The procedure involves injecting a sclerosant solution into the vein using a very fine needle. This solution irritates the vein lining, causing the walls to seal together. As a result, blood flow is redirected to deeper veins, and the treated vein is gradually absorbed by the body over a few weeks.
Thread veins, or spider veins, are small, dilated veins located just beneath the skin’s surface. Several factors can contribute to their development, with heredity being a significant factor. Hormonal changes, such as those occurring during menstruation or pregnancy, can also lead to the appearance of thread veins. In some cases, thread veins may be associated with underlying varicose veins.
Before beginning treatment, it is essential to identify the underlying cause of the thread veins to rule out the presence of varicose veins. If varicose veins are present, surgical treatment may be more appropriate.
